Kids Pricing is something Get Hooked NW strongly supports. Getting kids started fishing as early as possible is important to their love of the sport as well as the future of fishing.
How Kids Pricing Works
We require 2 paying adults for all child discounts.
Our rates for children are as follows:
- 1st – 8th grade are 50% off a full price seat
- 9th – 12th grade 25% off a full price seat
Our rates for children who will NOT be fishing are as follows:
Up to 2 children, 1st – 12th grade who are NOT fishing are $75 each.
Any child Kindergarten or younger is free. While they are welcome we ask that they not actively fish, but they are welcome to come “help” you fish. Please note that you will not be allowed to keep a limit of fish for any child not fishing just because they are on the boat.
That said, just because your child doesn’t want to fish doesn’t mean they should stay home.
Tips for Fishing with Kids
1. Choose your fishery:
We recommend warmer times of the year for beginning anglers. Certain techniques are easier than others and we can talk you through the best options for your family.
We would love to help prime your child for future fishing as well. If possible, bring the kids along when you book a trip at one of our kid-friendly spots to fish. Have them observe while you fish, often kids learn and absorb info by simply being present as it goes on around them!
2. Get Ready
Preparing gear in advance minimizes stress. Check as you pack: fishing gear, snacks, drinks, water, sunscreen (please apply long wearing sunscreen at home and wash all hands thoroughly – sunscreen on fishing gear is a big no-no on trips), rain jackets, hats, first-aid kit, sunglasses.
Also feel free to pack a bag of toys from home to allow them some side entertainment when they tire of the new activity. Fishing may or may not keep them engaged the entire trip and that is okay.
3. Fish Safe
Safety must come first. Life jackets can sometimes be uncomfortable but they are required for all kids under the age of 13. If you have them already that is great! If you plan on fishing often they are fairly inexpensive and having one all their own can make fishing trips a little more special!
Hooks are sharp and should only be handled by an adult or with adult supervision depending on the age of your child/children.
4. Have Fun
Fishing is fun, if you make it about the entire experience, and not about how many fish are caught, you are more likely to have a child who wants to fish again! Keep this objective in mind and you may have a fishing partner for life!

Kids age 15 and older are required to have a fishing license. All anglers regardless of age are required to have a catch record card when fishing for salmon and steelhead. Catch record cards are free.
