is the largest river this side of the Mississippi and provides many fishing
opportunities throughout the year. We focus on Spring Chinook, Summer-run
Steelhead and Fall Chinook at Buoy 10 in Astoria. We fish this river in
March and April for some of the best eating fish there are, Spring Chinook.
We chase these fish from the lower river near Cathalamet, through the
Portland area up past Bonneville Dam to the mouth of the Wind River and
into Drano Lake. .
In June we begin fishing for Summer-run Steelhead in the lower river near Cathalamet. We follow the fish up river and anchor in front of tributaries like the Cowlitz River. As the Columbia warms in the summer, the fish cool themselves on the cool run off of its smaller tributaries. These fish are very aggressive biters and they attack our bait. $200.00 per person.
